I moved into the city
My age was 21
People on the radio
Said “city boys have lots of fun”
So I got a flat with a radio
and wall to wall TV
Now I hear a lot of voices
But won’t someone talk to me

I’m sad to say
Returning from my job
The telephone was ringing
I jumped up screaming “Oh my god!”
I grabbed at the receiver
So tired of being alone
I shouted “Man here I am”
But all I heard was the dialing tone

Couldn’t help me in the least
I thought to ask a policeman
But you only get grief from the city police
So I asked around up and downtown

Told what was on my mind
